End of the Month Wrapup

We take most of our photos with our phone nowadays, and we blog that way, too. It's just easier to snap a few pics in the moment & update the blog anytime, anywhere. The quality of the photos are not as good as from our big camera, but what we lack in quality, we more than make up for in quantity! We thought we'd end the month with a few more random photos we took this month. Enjoy!

Wednesday

Up to Something

Harrison is quite the adventurer. Turn your back on him for 2 seconds, and he's off doing something he probably shouldn't be doing! He's so funny...he can entertain himself forever trying to figure out what things are & how they work. We caught him rummaging through one of the bathroom drawers yesterday. Which was fine until he started playing with glass perfume bottles. We're fine with messy play, but we draw the line at broken glass!

Tuesday

He's A Shoe In

Hampton is starting to like dressing up a little. He ties one of Harrison's baby blankets on as a cape & gets us to fly him around like a super hero. What he loves, though, is shoes. Mommy's shoes, Daddy's shoes...it doesn't matter. He just likes to put them on & stomp around the house in them. We are just jealous that he looks better in them than we do!

Monday

Happy Birthday, Mommy!

Today is Tanner's birthday, and we're celebrating big! We love you & hope you have a great day with us!

Friday

The Nina, The Pinta and The Hangout

Recently, the replica ships of the Nina & Pinta sailed into our port for a few days of touring. We wanted to see them, so we headed down to take a look. Bo had toured a similar boat when he was younger, but since Tanner grew up land-locked, this was her first experience. They were very cool...and much smaller than anything we'd want to take on a world voyage! The guides told us that there were at least 27 people on the smaller boat & more on the larger boat, and for sanitary drinking water, they pretty much drank the equivalent of rubbing alcohol. Thank goodness for modern times!

After our exploring, Hampton was dying to play near the water, so we headed to the Hangout, where there are fenced play areas, outside picnic tables, and delicious burgers. We're sure the people on the Nina & Pinta would have been thrilled to have a place to relax like that after they sailed the seas!

Thursday

The Boy Shop

If you're in doubt of what to do with the boys, take them to Bass Pro! Luckily, Grandpa lives close to it, so they get their fill of the fish tanks!

Wednesday

Yesterday

Yesterday, Tanner needed to help Grandi work on monogramming orders, so she & the boys packed up & headed to Grandi & Grandaddy's house. Hamp got to visit the train museum with Grandaddy, and both boys had a blast playing outside. We're so lucky that the weather was nice & that Grandaddy has lots of outside toys to play with....including himself!

Monday

Weekend Update

This weekend, the boys got to have lots of fun with Grandpa & Grannie (including a game of push each other in the laundry hamper) until Saturday night, at which point we went & picked them up for a busy Sunday. Tanner had nursery duty Sunday with a packed class, and then we headed to a friend's birthday party yesterday afternoon. The boys both had their first swings at a piƱata, which Hamp wasn't sure of at first. Now he can't quit talking about "the donkey that drops toys & candy". We had a great time with our pals & Hampton asked if we could go to Kai's birthday party again next weekend. That's definitely how you know you threw a good party!

Friday

Valentine's Day Recap

If you haven't noticed by now, we're a little goofy when it comes to holidays. It's fun to get the boys all excited over little things, and it doesn't take too much on our part besides a little planning. It's just how we share our love (pun intended)! So we started the morning with pink muffins, then made cupcakes, heart shaped pizza & did a little heart tracing project. Grandaddy showed up just in time for the painting, and Hamp was excited that he helped him work on his project.

The cupcake decorating by Hamp was a bit of a mess...he managed to dump most of a container of sprinkles on his cupcake, then decided that he didn't like sprinkles after all. His mommy is in total agreement, so he got to have a replacement cupcake to enjoy. We will probably be cleaning sprinkles up for weeks! Harrison thought he was in heaven with the cupcakes. He ate 3, and everyone knows he won't eat anything, so we were thrilled!

We ended our celebrating having dinner with Paul & Jan. We had a great time catching up with them, especially since we hadn't seen them in forever due to all the sickness that's been going around. It was a great day spent with our loves & we wouldn't have wanted it any other way!

Thursday

Happy Heart Day!

We hope everyone has a wonderful Valentine's Day cherishing the ones you love!

Wednesday

Mardi Gras Madness

We had such a great Mardi Gras season this year! We made it to 3 parades, & celebrated at home with festive decorations, MG cookies & a homemade cinnamon roll king cake. We had fun with friends & wore our cute MG beads & shirts. It's dangerous work getting all those throws, as shown by our friend Krystal's arm, which got bruised by some wild beads! Even though there were some showers yesterday, we sure didn't let it rain on our parade!

Tuesday

Happy Mardi Gras!!

Schools and businesses (including Bo's) are closed today to celebrate Fat Tuesday. We're spending the day as a family & hitting the parades with friends. We are so lucky to live where "letting the good times roll" is the way of life!

Monday

Caffeine Addict

We don't let the boys have any type of soda. They have no redeeming qualities & unless the Doctor recommends them drinking Sprite (which has happened a couple of times), we just don't think it's appropriate.

However, we are both addicted to Diet Coke (since we don't drink coffee), so the boys see us drinking our "juice" all the time. Harrison has sneakily sampled the soda, and apparently likes it. The other night, we were at Grandi's house, and he picked up a can & spilled it everywhere. He then proceeded to lick it up like a dog until we could get it cleaned up. He now tries to grab at any can he can find! Hopefully we can break his new addiction quickly & then we might start on ours!

Thursday

Moving Anniversary

Sunday was our 6th anniversary of moving to the beach. Every year, we celebrate by eating pancakes with Tanner's parents, just like we did that first Sunday. Lots of things have changed since that first breakfast, but we are still just as excited as we were that first morning to live in the place we'd always dreamed of moving. As the old saying goes, "if you're lucky enough to live at the beach, then you're lucky enough"!

Catching A Break

Since H1 & H2 weren't really any better over the weekend, we headed to the Doctor's office yesterday.

Harrison was feeling terrible while we were there, screaming & throwing up everywhere (among other things). While checking him over, the Dr. found a lump on his collarbone & ordered X-rays. Several hours, more throwing up, and a few tests later found that it was indeed broken. Great. Unfortunately, there's nothing we can really do for it except let it heal. Of course, every little stumble he makes now makes us catch our breath!

We're still waiting on tests results to see what the boys have. They think it's rotavirus, but we had to take samples at home & deliver them to the lab before we have the results. And since South Baldwin Hospital is about the most inept place on the planet, we actually had to do 2 samples...one that we took there & another that we took to our preferred hospital, Thomas. The only reason we even went to the first hospital for labs is that the test has to be done within 2 hours of the sample being collected, and Thomas is 40 minutes away. We definitely learned our lesson to not cut corners....even our doctors warned us. Next time, we'll listen & make the trek no matter what!

Friday

Quotes & Pics

As you know by now, Tanner is in love with Pinterest. It's like Google for anything a girl would need...cooking, crafts, fashion, childrens' activities, holiday ideas and more. One of the things that seem to be all over Pinterest is quotes. Some are hilarious, some are stupid, and lots will make you think. Especially the ones about children. They remind us to be present in the little moments & to cherish the tough parts, because eventually we'll wish for these times back!
