Pile It On

Grandpa & Granny have a huge yard with lots of trees, which this time of year means lots of leaves. And so Hampton & Harrison got to enjoy one of the joys of childhood....jumping in the leaf piles! They raked them, rolled in them, squished them, and put them in their mouths (that last one was mostly Harrison). Most importantly, they had a blast being outside in the fall air!

Wednesday

North Pole Breakfast

We welcomed Telly, our elf, back this year with our annual North Pole breakfast. With special goodies like chocoalte milk and snow-covered powdered sugar to eat, we gathered around and had a little early holiday party with Telly. He's so thoughtful that he even brought the boys a couple of gifts to get them in the holiday spirit!

Weekend Update

This weekend was craziness! Here are a few of the things we packed in:

Our first Thanksgiving night shopping spree. Lets just say we crossed it off our bucket list & now we never have to do that again!

Bo stood for hours in line to score cheap Hangout Festival tickets.

We went to a fun birthday party for Hamp's little friend Lucas

We decorated the house (mostly)

Tanner & Randi slaved on monogramming orders

We got Hampton ready for his first day back to school in like two weeks!

Monday

Thanksgiving Day 2012

We had a very low-key & wonderful holiday this year, celebrating at Grandpa & Granny's house. Grandi joined us (Granddaddy was in TN helping his mom put on a spread), and we had a delicious meal of Bo's smoked turkey, as well as dressing & macaroni & cheese recreated from Tanner's Grandmother's recipe. Add in all the sides & desserts made by Randi & Jan, and we had one major meal! We were all too stuffed to even have seconds...that's pretty bad on our favorite meal of the year!

We had a great time watching the parade, a tradition Tanner's family has been doing since she was little, as well as playing outside, looking through the stacks of Black Friday ads, and catching a little bit of the dog show while playing trains. We got some great photos, especially since the weather was amazing and the trees were gorgeous! Here are a few of our favorite photos. Hope everyone had as wonderful of a day as we did!

Thursday

Happy Turkey Day!

Wednesday

Thankful list

Tanner has been counting down the things we're thankful for all month, but we do have some not-so-serious things we're thankful for, too! So here are some of our other favorites:

Pizza, the world's perfect food. Tanner loves that Hamp loves it as much as she does!

Diet Coke, which is sometimes the only thing that gets us through the day!

That Grandi loves a craft project as much as we do, which comes in handy with Hampton.

Our DVR, which holds such wonderful shows as Scandal, Revenge, Austin City Limits, and hours upon hours of Yo Gabba Gabba

That 2 of the 3 sets of Grandparents live locally, and the other set we get to see via Skype.

Technology, which allows us to share our lives on the blog!

The joy that Harrison has while walking. He's so proud of himself!

The silliness that fills our home. It's wild & crazy here every minute, but we wouldn't change a thing!

That Hampton & Harrison are starting to play together & become the brothers we are so excited for them to be!

Holiday Countdown Craziness

Somehow Thanksgiving has surprised us with it's arrival this week. So has the realization that our schedules are packed full until after Christmas! With all the parties & events around the corner, we took this past weekend to stock up on groceries & gifts for the holidays. We ran like crazy, but we were able to get most of our shopping done. Now we just have to do the cooking, wrapping, assembling, crafting, decorating, addressing, and shipping! Do you think Santa would let us borrow an elf? We think we're gonna need it!

Hampton & Harrison helping at the grocery store. What would we do without Publix's free cookies & fun grocery carts?

Getting Better

The past two weeks here have been a challenge, to say the least! Two weeks ago today, we got bad news when we picked Hampton up from MDO....he'd come down with a stomach virus. Well, this virus ended up being terrible & never-ending! Two weeks, multiple Doctor visits, a prescription & stool sample kit (disgusting!) later, we're mostly out of the woods. He's still on the BRATS diet, but he's starting to feel much better...thank goodness!

In the meantime, Tanner broke her toe tripping over a baby gate. It's hurts & looks awful, but there's not much you can do for a toe except hobble around, so that's what she's doing!

We are really looking forward to a more relaxed week next week, and a low-key holiday at home!

Thursday

Monogramming is exhausting!

While Grandi & Tanner work like busy little elves on holiday orders, Grandaddy & Harrison take a much needed rest!

Wednesday

Trouble, thy name is Harrison

Ok, the child has been walking for 6 days & he already thinks he's big stuff! Just today, we've found him in the laundry basket twice and STANDING on top of the play table! We don't even know how he got on top of it! Apparently, we're going to have our hands full with this little one. Hopefully we won't have lots of ER visits along the way!

Tuesday

Look Who's Walking!

Thursday

When Big Brother's Away....

...the baby will play!

Wednesday

Rockin' the Vote

In case you weren't sure, yesterday was Election Day. Even though it was cold outside, we bundled up and headed out to the polls to do our civic duty last night. We were lucky that the line for our last initial was empty, allowing us to pass the long out-the-door lines and head right to voting. We quickly cast our vote to get our all-important voting stickers. It's never to early to teach our little ones the importance of putting your in your, no matter if your candidate wins or loses!

Monday

Weekend Update

When we picked Hampton up from MDO on Friday, he was sick in the office. Since he'd come down with the stomach bug that is going around here, we knew our weekend plans had changed. We postponed our canoeing trip & missed our Supper Club party, but one thing we couldn't get out of was decorating the pumpkin!

Tanner was asked to decorate Hampton's class pumpkin for the pumpkin contest at the Harvest Festival, which is the MDO's big annual fundraiser. The only rule is that you can't carve it, and after the contest, the pumpkins are auctioned off. We decided on a caramel apple design & enlisted Tanner's dad's help. It turned out cute enough to win 2nd place behind a museum-quality pelican pumpkin. We were thrilled!

Party Party Party!!

We have been some party people this week! On Monday, we celebrated Hampton's birthday at school with cupcakes and singing. He loved it & it was cute watching him belt out "happy birthday" with all the other littles.

Yesterday, we switched gears for his Halloween party at school. Tanner & a friend were in charge of the party, so we got busy finding crafts & goodies appropriate for the preschoolers. We made mummy juice boxes, pumpkin brownies, pumpkin-shaped pb&js, jack o'lantern fruit cups, and goodie bags. Of course, the little ones didn't care, but we thought it was cute!

After all that excitement, it was time to get ready for our Halloween party. We readied the costumes, made a cute veggie tray, and headed to the Schultz house. We had a great time, even though Hamp decided at the last minute that he didn't want to trick or treat, but would rather stay & play with trains instead!

We have one more party this weekend, then we're taking a break for a little while...at least until the holiday parties start up in a few weeks!
